SCSU urges its instructors to use Bb to store and access data to demonstrate student success. Getting Started with Blackboard: Blackboard Essentials
This workshop is designed for faculty new to Blackboard or others who would like a refresher course. Topics include basic Blackboard navigation, common course tools, content creation, uploading course syllabus, creating an announcement, making course available, setup of Grade Center, creating folders, items and learning modules, creating discussion forums.

Live Webinars
Interact with Students through a Virtual Classroom: Blackboard Collaborate
Blackboard Collaborate is a virtual meeting tool that is similar to GoTo Meeting, Zoom and Adobe Connect and other webconferencing systems. Blackboard Collaborate is available with SC State’s Blackboard LMS and can be by faculty to deliver live online class lectures, virtual office hours and student tutoring. This live webinar will provide an Overview of Blackboard Collaborate and demonstrate its key features. The webinar is presented online, not in a particular room on campus. The Grade Center
This three-part series demonstrates common tasks that faculty perform using the Blackboard Grade Center. This on-demand webinar is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week in SC State’s Blackboard Collaborate. The webinar is presented online not in a particular room on campus. You may view this webinar from your home or office computer, at any time and repeated as often as desired. Login instructions for this webinar is sent with the registration confirmation. This on-demand webinar illustrates the following tasks related to the Grade Center:

  • Navigating the Grade Center
  • Managing grades using the grading of tests and assignment submissions
  • Customizing the Grade Center using grading periods, Smart Views, letter grade schemas, and the column organization page
  • Creating and managing columns to calculate grades
  • Adding color rules to the Grade Center
  • Creating visual indicators to quickly interpret information
  • Using the Needs Grading Page to help instructors easily identify which assignments are to be graded
